(Exploring ancient performance (music, dance, theater, processions, feasting) through archaeology. Ancient instruments and costumes, architectural settings for performances, images, and written records provide information on the kinds of performances that took place and their meaning in ancient communities. Current research focuses on the ancient Maya (AD 250–1000), with comparisons to other cultures.)
