INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING YOUR RESEARCH PROPOSAL
See the “Fellows” tab here for descriptions of the graduate student and faculty mentors and their research interests. You are to pick one as the basis for your proposal. Clearly state the topic you wish to explore and where you would do the research, keeping in mind that simple ideas or simple tests of ideas can produce important results; you do not necessarily have to offer an elaborately developed conceptualization of your project at this stage. However, you may want to include a plan that outlines the kinds of methods you might use and a tentative project schedule. Please make clear why you are interested in the subject and the particular perspectives you expect to bring. Your research proposal should not exceed 600 words.
Lemelson Scholars will receive 4 units of Anthro 199 (Directed Research) for each of the five quarters of the program, along with a stipend totaling $2,000 during winter and spring quarters, 2012, and $5,000 during the 2012-13 academic year.
